Health is a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being,
and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity. It is an essential
dimension of quality of life, the opportunity to make choices and be satisfied
with life.
Despite the unprecedented global health crisis COVID-19, which caused
great suffering, destabilized the world economy and disrupted the lives of
billions of people worldwide, major progress is being made to improve the
health of millions of people.
Today, significant advances have been made in increasing life expectancy
and reducing some of the major causes of infant and maternal mortality. Further
efforts are required to eradicate a wide range of diseases and to resolve many
old and new health challenges.
